mod_rewrite
«

I changed a site from mainli static to mainly database fed. the result was a drop to 20% visitors , i waited for it to settle, dumbly, and before i new it i dropped a page rank with google.
I have since looked at mod_rewrite and have changed
so ie mysite/villa.php?villa=jajaluna
can be accessed by mysite/villa_jajaluna.html
before i change the links is it a worth while in you opinion re se indexing or is it just smoke and mirrors, and will make no difference?

Hi,
Have you altered page content / keywords / titles?
Could Google be seeing your changes as duplicte content?
Are your mod_rewrite changes working correctly?
There are a number of reasons as to why you may be seeing a drop in rankings.
Be patient as Google rankings have dropped for a number of people of late. It usually takes about 6 weeks for things to settle down again.

thanks for your reply.
the drop happened when my static site(mainly) was updated so getting a lot of php?=123 etc. i didn't think to add 301 to redirect until too late. still i bit the bullet and did the mod rewrite so i m waiting, though not really patiently, for results. As for google yes i have had pr drops across the board on a number of sites , pr5-4, 3-2 and even 3-1,weird stuff!
